State police alleged a Brownsville man stole nearly $1,000 from his cousin, then tried to run him over early Tuesday morning.

According to a criminal complaint, Edgar Yoder II reported that Robert Grow Jr., 37, stole $967 from him. When confronted, Grow allegedly pushed Yoder down, got into a white Honda Accord, and tried to run him over, the complaint alleged.

Yoder told police he was able to dive out of the vehicle’s path before fleeing to his sister’s house in Luzerne Township, where he called 911.

Police said Yoder told officers he noticed the money was missing after he and Grow made a stop in an alleyway near Snowden Terrace in Brownsville. Just before this stop, Yoder withdrew money from an ATM and placed the money in a cup holder, police said.

In addition to felony aggravated assault, Grow is charged with felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor counts of simple assault and theft, and was cited for harassment.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
