Dorothy Louise “Dottie” Kimball Cochran, 87, of Dawson (Lower Tyrone Township), passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in Independence Health System’s Frick Hospital, Mount Pleasant. Dottie was born January 17, 1938, in Charleroi, a daughter of the late Harry Luther and Adelaide Haushalter Kimball.
Dottie is survived by her loving family, which includes Henry T. Cochran, her husband of 61 years; her son, Henry T. “Hank” Cochran, III, his wife, Angie and grandsons, Benjamin and Ryan of Sewickley; and her daughter and son-in-law of Virginia.
Dottie was a graduate of the former Scottdale High School Class of 1956 and was formerly employed in the accounting department of the Duraloy Company of Scottdale.
She was a 50-year member of the Connellsville Chapter #247, Order of Eastern Star; a 50-year member of the Dawson Grange #419; and, a faithful member of the Bryan Methodist Church of Dawson.
Dottie was an elected auditor for Lower Tyrone Township and served for many years as area chairwoman for the March of Dimes for crippled children and adults. She served as secretary-treasurer of the Cochran Cemetery for 58 years and assisted with the complete revitalization of the non-profit cemetery organization and also for four expansions of the cemetery grounds.
Dottie was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, traveling to several interesting destinations and most importantly, spending time with her loving family.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of the RALPH GALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 501 Railroad Street, Dawson (www.fergusonfunerals.com). Family and friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will immediately follow at 11, with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Watson officiating.
A private family graveside committal service and interment will follow in the Cochran Cemetery.
