Mount Pleasant

Joseph Gregory “Greg” Cornish, 63, of Mount Pleasant, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 16, 2025, in UPMC Jameson, of a heart attack. He was born April 6, 1961, in Uniontown Hospital, a son of the late Joseph Gregory Cornish, and Elizabeth “Penny” Robinson Gallagher, who survives.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Josephine Brownfield Cornish; maternal grandparents, James and Kay Robinson; and several aunts and uncles.

He attended Uniontown High School, Class of 1979. Greg attended The Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Pitt Greensburg.

Greg was an antique broker and often assisted in the purchase of classic cars with his brother, Scott.

He was a music lover who attended many concerts. He enjoyed hiking and spending time outdoors, but most of all he loved spending time with his family, where he was recognized as the fun uncle.

Greg attended the Church of Love, Truth, and Peace in Uniontown, where he was on the board of directors. Greg was instrumental in the establishment and day- to-day operations of the church, assisting his friend and pastor, Phil Zebro.

Greg was a kind soul, who would help anyone in need; he had an especially strong calling to help the homeless and he was in the early planning stages of starting a homeless shelter. Even in death, he was still helping people by being an organ donor.

He was a lover of animals and was willingly the designated babysitter for his golden retriever nephew, Dodge, and his canine corso great-nephew, Sonny, who both loved their Uncle Greg. Greg was loved by all who knew him and will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish Greg’s memories are his mother, Elizabeth “Penny” Robinson Gallagher of Charleston, S.C.; brother, Scott Cornish and wif, Kimberly of Scottdale; sister, Kristen Hustead Harper and fiance Courtney Friedman of Folly Beach, S.C. (Graysen, Charlotte, Whitaker, Laney, Ellory, Isabelle); niece, Alysia Stephens and husband Dave of Scottdale (Mason, Logan, Millie); nephew, Anthony Cornish and girlfriend Anna Gatti of Mount Pleasant; nephew, Frank Gregor and wife Jen of Bolivar, Mo. (Tristan, Andrew, Montana); nephew, Ryan Fuller of Everson; uncle, James Robinson and wife Linda of Troy, Mo.; girlfriend, Jill Sparks of Rogers, Ark.; and many other relatives and friends.

Arrangements have been entrusted to VITO C. MARTUCCI FUNERAL HOME LLC, 123 S 1st Street, Connellsville, where the family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m., the time of a service, Friday, March 21, with Pastor Phil Zebro officiating. Interment will be private. Dinner will follow at the Scott C’s Classic Building, 712 E Crawford Avenue, Connellsville; friends and family are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Church of Love, Truth, and Peace, 120 Lincoln Street, Uniontown, PA 15401, in memory of Greg Cornish.

A celebration of life will follow at a later date.

“You will never regret the times you stopped to listen to a loved one, or put down your phone to be present, or paused to notice something beautiful, or made an effort to be kind. This is the good stuff. Don’t miss it.”
